Beware. On the 850 I had a hell of a time fitting the pipe back into the water pump through the o-ring. It was just a straight cut on the pipe which kept cutting into the o-ring. I peened over that cut edge so that it had a sightly rounded shape which then slipped right passed the o-ring and into the pump. I have since noted that the newer style pipe comes from the factory with that edge rounded over.
Try to learn life's bad lessons vicariously through others.

I did find one cute trick to easily getting the gasket in place on a rebuild.
If you leave off the last exhaust manifold stud ( easily installed afterwards) you can put the gasket in and the top bolt, then swing the gasket down to pickup the bottom bolt
Erik’s method of gluing it in place works well , too. I always worry about knocking it off so carefully confirm fitment.
The bolts have sealer on them so you can’t run them down, thread carefully. Dont cross thread them!!
