I am leaking Haldex fluid, and I am pretty sure it is the seal where the drive shaft enters the Haldex. I have the part and tools to replace it but need a weekend to do so.
The question is, how much risk of damage (slipping/burning the Haldex clutches) is there if I let my wife drive the car until this coming weekend, especially if there is good weather and most of the drive is directed to the front wheels? If there is a risk of damage to the Haldex, can I remove fuse 29 to disable the Haldex system for the next few days?
Background - I rebuilt the rear differential a couple of years ago when the bearings started making a roaring noise at 40mph. I replace every bearing and seal/gasket that I could while I had it apart. I even serviced the Haldex pump and filter while I had it apart. The one seal I did not replace is the one I think is leaking now. It figures. But, I did resolve the bearing noise.
