Hi Everyone,
This is my second time with this issue, the first time it was with my 2000 S70 and I just gave up on it.
Now it's happening in my 2003 V70 and my tape collection is a lot more interesting to me now so I would like to repair it.
The issue is the classic, tape will auto reverse several times and then eject. There is no sign of any forward motion of the tape on either side before it ejects. I have ordered a head cleaner just incase, but since it was working great up to this point, I do think it might be the belt. It did just happen basically overnight, when they were trying to access the airbag for the recall. I saw the video for how to remove the stereo and access the cassette player for the older model, but can't seem to find instructions for the 2003. I'm already going to assume it's not as easy. Is it worth it? I am in no may a mechanic, and don't have any specialty tools, but I know how to replace belts in my turntables so if I can access it with relative ease then I'm down to try.
I have a big road trip from New Orleans back to Massachusetts coming up and I'd really love to have that tape player working,
Tapes sound so good and I have really cool ones!
Thank You so much! You guys are the best!
