Ignition Switch, Keys and Fob- 2000 V70 XC

I apologize if this has already been covered.

I recently (today) purchased a 2000 V70 XC. The ignition switch is a bit sloppy and I only have one key.
Could someone please tell me if it is possible to salvage an ignition switch set that has keys and a fob and just trade them out, or is it more complicated than that?

From '99(U.S market cars)...it's more complicated.
But...a good,reputable locksmith can repair the barrel and switch.

True a locksmith can repair the barrel and switch. But I was thinking with the cost of programming extra keys and fob, that there might be a less expensive work around.

If they can programm keys and fob...it will be for triple less than at a dealership.

Replacing requires IMMO, VGLA, ECM units as minimum from other car. CDM (gauge,dash,meter, speedo) has just static info does it have remote or not but doesnt talk with units in security context as far i know.

You can use an Android App learning fobs completely yourself though it requires your door and 'hood' switches works and are then closed for programming or it will fail. It will fail too if remote is not correct frequency which they are two so best friend is cheap remote tester if any issue.

Programming keys works too though at minimum requires asking from Volvo Immobilizer PIN code to get access then it can produce chip files via same App to program new empty chips such so it accepts them to be programmed as a new keys. If this is used then if send to local locksmith then question "what car it is" should be ignored or locksmith is not up to task programming key chips or in worst case they using programmers which has known defects for Volvos which produces bad - not working keys for Volvos when used their procedure where box is taken off from the car and given to them.

And then is option of Volvo. It costs anything 100 to 300 money units get key and programmed it to the car.
