Vacuum Pump Removal - 2004 - D5 Euro 3

Post by nfr »

I need to swap my vacuum pump.
What i find surprising is that for a component that becomes the focus of so many discussions I don't seem to be able to find any write ups or video on the procedure to remove it - or at least not for an early d5.
I'm assuming that once i can get access to the pump its not to difficult to remove, but its more about what needs to come of first?

From what i can see:-

Looks like breather pipe that runs over the top on the engine to the turbo inlet ought to come out.
Also removal of the top engine mount is nice and easy.
Air filter and pipework also not of an issue.
What worries me a little more:-
Does Engine bay fuse board need to be moved?
Also Brake modulator?

I dont really want to be touching the latter two unless its unavoidable.

For info.... whilst im working on the vacuum pump I'm probably going to remove the EGR and cooler for a clean up if that helps things?

Any help would be appreciated
