My v70 has always radiated heat from the engine bay. That's no secret. It doesn't overheat at all.
The issue is either the battery or starter.
In the summer months, I'll drive somewhere, park, shut the car off and do whatever.
I'll get back and go to start the car, and it won't start. It acts like a dead battery where you turn they key and it clicks.
The Battery is brand new and fully charged. This happened with my old battery too.
I'll pop the hood and let the engine bay cool down for 10 minutes or so, and then it'll start again like there wasn't any issues .
Has anyone else run into this?

Starter likely getting ready to go.

Likely the starter, followed by the electrical portion of the ignition switch.

I'll give it a shot and replace it when I can.
It works fine every other time. I daily drove it back when it happened the first time over a year ago. It just seems to be when it gets hot out.

I had an intermittent symptom like this on my 97 855 and the root cause turned out to be high resistance inside the positive battery cable at the terminal post -- the crimp was failing, leading to a large voltage drop. You can measure the voltage drop between the battery and the starter and see if it's higher than normal when you're trying to start the car (should be below ~0.2V). In my case replacing the cable fixed the issue.

My buddy's looking at it tomorrow for me. I'll have him give that a look.
I was chasing a no start issue last year, but it was because of the terminal end on the solenoid, so this is a possiblity.
I'm just not understanding why it's only on hot days after the car has been driven.

Let us know how it goes. I still suspect the brushes are worn out on the starter.

I also vote for bad/corroded battery cables.
Symptoms are magnifying with heat soak.
2awg(25mm2) wires should be used as a replacement.
