2010 v50 2.4i - Rear Bumper Tow Hook Cover - How Is It Attached?

I am confused. I see two hooks, so they go on first, and grip the plastic of the bumper, but the protrusion with the round hole looks like it should click over some sort of protrusion or flexible/spring-loaded part so that it "clicks" into place.

Clearly, someone who did not know how to remove it properly removed it at one time, because the only option seems to be to use silicone caulk to glue it into place.

How is it SUPPOSED to stay on?

Can you post a picture of your car ad where this is to do please? It may help to identify what is missing.

This is for the towing eye as I know it when you are trying to pull the car out of a snow bank or the like as opposed to a tow hitch cover?

I think there should be a plastic wire with "arrow" tips on the ends. You squeeze the tip and pass it through the cover so when you unlock the cover it will not be lost. The other side should be attached similarly to the eyelid location on the bumper or reinforcement bar. Just using the logic from front bumper cover on my 01 v70xc
