Check Engine light at 76K miles - Advice Needed, Please

Post by y2kdad »

I received my first check engine warning on my '17 V90 CC. First, I had some trouble communicating with the iCarSoft tool and the ECU but finally found a message about cylinder 1 misfire. I thought there would be something pointing to the emissions(?).

I cleared the message but do I need to be concerned? Also, is there a better diagnostic tool out there? I normally use this one on my '09 XC70.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Try to update icarsoft tool. I noticed intermittent problems with mine while connecting to 2017MY but all other cars 2001-2016 were not having any issues. Icarsoft is quite capable budget friendly tool that is capable to help you most of the times. I would hold on purchasing any expensive scanners at this time(decent midrange is around $500). I would suggest to replace spark plugs if not done prior(my dealer said it is 10years or 60k is what they recommend for new 4cyl engines). Change the ignition coil from #1 cylinder to #4 and drive. If the code is back and will point to #1-you at least will know that it is not spark plug or ignition coil.
