XC60 is 2 generations so not all apples-apples.

IMHO that is not totally volvo's achievement. Significant amount of sales were contributed by overpriced and not reliable rivals. I love the 1st gen xc60(minus t6 read units and rear suspension trailing arm bushing). Biggest beef with 2nd get is horrible design of the rear wheel wells that permit all the dirt from rear wheels splash onto the rear doors. Plus why they removed the plastic around rear fenders? Xc40 has it and looks awesome and utilitarian. I spoke with some people at dealer and they shared my sentiments about that change. Apparently there are some oem splash shields that can be added...but for 60+K...

I am not a fan of the first gen XC60. It may not affect cars further south, but up here the front fenders rot out due to that stupid design of a large foam they fitted behind the fender liner catching and holding dirt and moisture. I guess fitted to stop road noise from stones and tire rumble. Also the trunk fails the 2 golf bag requirement as is is too short and narrow.
I have been tempted recently to buy a newer vehicle and was considering the gen 2 (2018? on) XC60. The XC40 may also be a contender as strangely it may have a large trunk area!
Not a huge fan though of the higher stressed 4 cylinder engines. Last 4 cylinder was a 760 turbo. It sounded better than the new 4's that sound so tinny.
Neil.

I am not a hatter of 4 cyl engines. Probably would select T5 from economical stand point, but T6 is sure fun to drive and is on par with 3.0T6. One should expect to replace supercharger at 100k at newer T6(if it lasted longer-you are lucky and I hope I will be lucky as well with 2 of those in my family). We have 2015, 2016,2016, 2017 xc60 in our family and still i would choose 5cyl 2016 platinum over the rest. Luckily for me no fender rust on either of 4 cars we have and it is NYS salt extravaganza here.
