Used may be the only option. Try EBay or the likes for one would be my suggestion:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/187239189845

There should be used parts suppliers in the UK I would have thought, but appreciate the age of the car will cause issues.

I believe here we call it a Throttle Body (TB).

Best option if you can't find one in the UK is look on eBay internationally. There's only one under that part number on eBay in the United States.

How did you break it? This isn't something that I would expect to fail on any car, since it's a mechanical part.

That number 8250464, given by Volvo dealer parts department, was incorrect, I'm trying to verify the correct part number where the sensor/meter is attached directly to the air filter housing, Volvo part number 9141056.
Thanks for the unexpectedly quick response.

So the part number you have provided is the top cover of the air box. Is that correct? I've attached an EBay link from the UK. Can you confirm that is what you are looking for?

Neil,
That is the correct air filer and I am looking for the part number of the sensor that would be attached to it.

So this is the MAF you are looking for?:

https://www.harfington.com/products/p-1 ... YQEALw_wcB

There is also this one. This one looks like it may be for non-turbo cars:

https://www.harfington.com/products/p-1 ... TtEALw_wcB

What I should have asked at the start, as your car is a European specified car, what engine it fitted to your car and is it turbo or non-turbo?

Neil,

Thanks again, from the VIN number 55 identifies the engine type as B5254FS; as the airfilter box is plain and I believe the turbo type were embossed as such I think non turbo.

Engine is non-turbo based on your picture and engine type. 2.5 liter 20V (valve) non-turbo. Hardest part is Volvo no longer list the part on their web-site to identify the part. I will look further into this.

I do not recall seeing this type of airbox on a later 850. I thought this was fitted to the non-turbo up to 1995. The ones I find here listed for your car have the part with the MAF inserted into a short pipe. Maybe Europe with the different emissions had a different option, or possibly someone has swapped the airbox or airbox top to an earlier one?

I'm wondering if your MAF insert maybe has any identifying part numbers on it. I found a part number for a 1994 non-turbo with this type of airbox and it is part # 1366220

Although aftermarket, this is what I mean if you check further down the page on the listing on what this fits:

https://www.ipdusa.com/products/23796/M ... =0,988,991

I just tried the part number in a Canadian Volvo dealer site and it strangely lists this part fitting a 1996 as well. Part is listed as not currently available. So I would suggest we have at least a part number to look for: 1366220

Neil,

Your input is much appreciated, 1366220 appears mostly "currently out of stock" or Far East origin with lengthy deliveries, Unlike you, I'd no luck trying to find a parts diagram with that airbox and sensor, without housing tube, I even tried 1994!
Initially no fault showing on instrument panel, however after the garage had removed/replaced the existing sensor during diagnostics, an electronic system fault now shows; however I'm not aware of them noticing any number, will keep you posted.

Again many thanks
