How to open jammed cup holder

Greetings.

The main cup holder in my 99 S80 is jammed closed. How can I get it open?

This is in the front console, just in front of the storage bin. It opens with a clam-shell door that slides down in front of the cup holder.

It is *not* the “pop-out” cup holder. I hope that makes sense.

My wife puts came home the other day and told me it was jammed and wouldn’t open.

I couldn’t get it open. The latch button is free but the door won’t open. I pried the top out a bit and used some forceps to pull out a napkin and some reciepts she had left in there. Using a borescope I verified there isn’t anything else in there. But the door is still stuck.

Any suggestions how to either get the door open, or remove that part of the console so I can figure out what happened?
