I’ve been having trouble getting Evita started after warm running, which then got really hard after filling up. Checking latent codes showed a p0440 pending, so we start with …

Visual Audible Tactile inspection of the evap System.
Results- canister and hoses all good, they were reworked a few years ago with OEM

Purge valve hose inspection revealed this

In addition , removing purge valve and testing for glow showed is stuck open, it should be Normally closed with no voltage applied.

I used some J309 fuel line as a new piece and a tight Oetiker to get a lamp onthe hard purge line.

Note there is a VIN split or two part numbers for the purge valve on the 1998-9 so match parts to order.

Hmmm, I’ve got to move that connector under the ATF line to protect those wires from chafe
