Trying to restore my 855 that's been imported from IL. My car only has "VOLVO" and "850" om the tailgate. Was that original without" GLT" on the 1997 LPT model?

GLT badge was dropped around 1994-1995 and from what I found it was only fitted to saloon cars

I´ve got a US spec 850 so the "GLT" must have fallen of. To bad Volvo didnt label it a "Turbo". Seems like the "Turbo", even the 220 hp, are worth twice as much as a natural aspirated 850 here in Scandinavia.

My 1997 855 GLT also has the GLT below the 850 on the tailgate.

So did mine. It always kind of bothered me that there was no distinction between the 97' GLT with Turbo, and the earlier year GLT's without Turbo. I am so sad that I ever sold that car.

So if I see a 96 US spec saloon with GLT, it's true that it might not be turbo? I ask because I might not just be an observer of a particular model. I might actually get one...

Yes, in 1997 the GLT got a light pressure turbo. In 1996 it was naturally aspirated.
