Lights throwing bulb failure warning - 06 V70 2.5T

Post by scot850 »

Ok, my soon to be mine V70 has some quirks. My buddy has this thing about fitting LED lights for better lighting. I can understand it as he drives a long way to work so good lighting is important for him. However, he has fitted LED's to this car and he said for about 9 months all was good, then since then the car has shown the bulb error light. Now, I will first go around all the lights and check if it is a coincidence and not the LED lights causing the issue at all. Other than returning to standard bulbs, (I may have spare bulbs I could swap in to see if they remove the code) any suggestions how I can try to remove the warning light? My OCD for warning lights will drive me madder!!

2nd thing. The rear spoiler has a brake light in it. I don't recall seeing that on P2 spoilers at all. He believes it may have come from an 03 V/XC70. If you plug that in it throws a bulb warning as well. Anyone have experience of this unit? Could it be you need to disconnect the other high level light, or need both connected or something like that?

For the rear spoiler you'll have to delete the tailgate light and use a masking black sticker.
You will have to use the tailgate light connector. Should be plug & play if all the leds are working.

Superb! Thank you for your help on this. Seems strange that my buddy didn't do this as he is a former Volvo tech. It looks like to plug it in you have no option but to disconnect the original light first. Hmmm? Looks like I have some electrical investigations to do. Oh, fun....!
