2015 XC70 T6 ;-)

It's been a busy few years but after being MIA due to some family emergencies I finally replaced my 2001 V70 T5 that was totaled in 2023 and bought a "new" car last Spring.

I found a one owner 2015 XC70 T6 with somewhat higher milage (168k) but Carfax showed it had been well maintained mechanically with consistent oil changes every 3,500 miles. I paid $7,200 for it, put 5,000 miles on it in the 9 months that I've owned it and got the following taken care of:
flushed heater and cooling systems
replaced AC compressor
replaced coils and plugs
replaced the tires, rear brake pads and rotors
replaced the engine air filter, cabin filter and had one oil change
The car is super quiet, very comfy, has lots of power and drives like a dream! I love it

Albeit the remote only locks the front passenger doors and hatch (i.e. it doesn't lock the two back passenger doors). And the paint has some scratches. I plan to address these issues early in 2026. Any insights on the locking issue? Or suggestions of method and supplies needed for the paint issue?

P.S. As for my 2003 V40, it's nearing 350k miles and just keeps ticking.
I'll replace the driver's side wiper motor and the hood strut this weekend.

A lot of parts are shared between the 3.0T and the 3.2

There is a lot of information in that thread let me know how much you want to know.

I didn’t have door lock problems with the S80.

But I need you to be more specific.

Will the doors lock and unlock if you press the lock button inside of the car?

And will they unlock from the key fob but not lock?

Hi Paul, Thanks for your note.

As for the doors not locking properly, the rear passenger doors wouldn't work using the fob or from inside the car. But my mechanic fixed it - I'm not sure how though.

I grew up in an automotive family (my father owned several shops in L.A.) I like understanding how things work and fixing them myself when possible. I was impressed with the thread from the link you posted. I wish I had the hand strength and an area to do work myself. Thankfully, my mechanic was the manager for a Volvo dealership 22 years. He's had his own shop for about 15 years now, which I helped him set up (accounting, advertising, website, etc.) Whenever one of my Volvo's needs work the cost is discounted (sometimes free

With the work listed in my Dec 13 post being done plus my purchase of it for $7,200, I've got approx $8,700 into it.

Any thoughts?

Brenda,

If I had bought your Volvo I would prioritize the following

1. Replace the engine Thermostat and the small radiator hose and O-ring that connects to the thermostat and engine block (and replace the coolant at the same time)

2. Verify that the PCV is working properly with the glove test and replace it as needed

3. Rebuild the brake booster vacuum pump if it is leaking

4. Do the major servicing on the auxiliary belt, tensioner, idler, and overdrive pulley

5. Do the service on the alternator overdrive pulley and replace the brushes in the alternator

6. Do a transmission fluid service

My thank you is long overdue . . . I moved into a "new" home. A death in the immediate family; BF was hospitalized, and my new home flooded. It's been a dramatic year since I bought my XC70 in April 2025 and was starting to turn for the better when a P0420 code came up.

Anyhoo, I wanted to let you know that I appreciate you for the list of things you made for your S80. I have had several of the things on your list done since I've owned my XC70. It's headed to my mechanic's this afternoon for the new cat. $3,000.00 - I hadn't planned on keeping it for more than a couple of years, but think I'll now have to. I'm going to check my receipts against your list. If I don't find them on my receipts, I'll ask my mechanic about getting them taken care of and/or look into some of the simpler things I may be able to do myself.
