Also no shifter light, check engine light on. Worked fine yesterday. What do these systems have in common?
Thanks.

CEM? If the front water drains get blocked water can get down into the CEM.
Ignition key could be another possible. You really need to scan it and see what is going on other wise it will be a parts cannon and crap shoot.
Neil.

I used 2 scanners (IcarSoft & VIDA) and neither could communicate with the car. VIDA said CEM was not communicating. I released the CEM from it's hiding spot under the dash, disconnected the battery, but haven't yet removed anything from the unit. I don't see any obvious signs of water infiltration. Door locks do not function and windshield wipers do not park, they only move until the stalk is released. Does this sound like CEM problem?

I sent the CEM to Xemodex. It tested ok at their facility but I had a new one programmed and returned. Car functions fine after installation of the replacement.
Two things that I wish I had done first: disconnect the battery and leave it disconnected for a day, then reconnect and see if problem resolved. If that failed I wish I had just disconnected the CEM and removed the relays/shunts and re-installed to see if there was some corrosion.
However, given the age and history of this particular PN of CEM's susceptibility to heat, I'm glad I got the replacement.
