99 v70xc Tailgate not opening.

Well, my tailgate is causing problem. I am still not 100% don't with passenger side fuel pump. (new pump, fuel gauge stays under 7 after filling total of 15 gallons, ETS back on). Trying to have the nivomat replacement done with IPD kit.
Remote messed up a long time ago. I've been using key to open. turning the key left twice opens all (lock knobs up).
I can't open the tailgate using the handle from outside. Crawled in from backseat and can't open using the lever on the tailgate(pushing to left).
Remove the trim panel. 2nd set of trim panel fix parts from IPD in hand.
Base of the that lever has coil spring. That area broke. Not sure what else broke leaving me not able to open the tailgate.

Is there anyother way to open the tailgate?

Even to buy and install the hatch lock, I think I have to open it first. Don't I ?

Forgot 1 thing. My dash light shows tailgate opened.

There is a thread on broken tailgate latch and getting it open. You can remove the two big torx screws holding the sill plate and open the hatch with that dangling in the air to effect repairs - I just had to do that with Long Jane Silver
