Magnuson Park in Seattle, could have been 2000 or 2001.

I can't recall when I went to my first Volvo meet. I think it was in the mid-late 80's. We had just started a Scottish section of the UK Volvo Owners Club and I was conned into being on the committee. Somehow my wife and I became event organizers and we held annual gatherings/shows as well as other meet ups like a visit to the police driver test/training school where they let us loose on the skid pan!

I miss those now, but I was never really a spit and polish person. I am currently starting to clean our 03 Toyota 4Runner and this is the first time I have given it a thorough clean since I bought it 8 years ago! My self reasoning is that I find too many hidden issues or bits of damage inflicted on the car which depresses me!
