greetings, has anyone ; bench tested or repaired their Magnetti Morelli units ? my 02 c70 2.3 is giving me the symptoms... I've seen some Hall affect retro units,,and some Ebay cheapies, most claiming to be plug and play,.. as always, thank You for your genuine help.

Yes, but the problem is deeper than that. Most people say the potentiometers go bad, and its true, they do, but the ETM also fails in other ways, in my opinion the most common failure is actually this magnet that seems to break up and expand, when it does it grinds on a coil and causes intermittent short circuits in the ETM that makes it spaz out. A rarer event is what happens after prolonged short circuiting, the electronics fail, specifically the power board.

Only the potentiometers are repairable, the coil is glued in and the magnet on the shaft is hard to come buy (except demodex source?)

Carlo- troll the ETM Room forum below for the right part number for the new contactless version on ebay

You have to make sure the seller is selling that as they put that part number into the description of other models to troll for fish not paying attention.

You can buy them used for 150-250 if patient.I have a bunch of spares but I now have 15 P80s to weed and feed so I need to manage my spares carefully

Ebayers will put this number in the listing then try to sell you the one they got from a junkyard for $25 marked up to $350

You should match non-turbo ETM to non-turbo car , and same for turbo

And for the turbo, don't mix LPT and HPT engine ETM's. Like for like.
