Remote of 2001 s60

I just know the expense to buy a new remote of 2001 s60 is $250 and programming costs half the expenses?
Is it too high? or any idea to cut the cost down?
I will appreciate it.

Make friends with the service dept. of your Volvo stealership....really, buy them some donuts or something. Your remote takes a software download so that's a big part of the expense. The numbers aren't too far off to tell you the truth, from what I've heard on other boards.
