Volvo Repair Database How to install trunk lifts.

Post by leighdkirby »

After a few close calls with nearly decapitating myself, I have purchased replacement trunk lifts. I am planning to install them myself, and am curious to know if anyone has any tips to make this a quick and easy procedure?
Thanks
Leigh Ann

I don't know how to install them for any model of Volvo, but for those that do know, you need to put the year and model in this post. :)
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Oh, well of course! It is a 1993 850 GLT with no spoiler.
Thanks again and sorry for the omission.

I'm interested in the same issue but with my 1997 850 wagon. The cold has sapped the little bit of staying power my lifts had left. Is it worth replacing them? My local Volvo repair shop quoted "around $300". Is that reasonable? Ideas?

Thanks, GrowinKids

Here's the parts. Instructions should be provided by IPD. I'll Google it if I remember.

Well guys, I could not be more grateful. I have had so much done to my 850 Sedan at Volvo for ungodly amounts of money, that this site is truly a godsend. During my visit yesterday, I also found how to fix my heated seats, replace my broken glovebox, and install a new seat cable. These are things I was going to have Volvo do, so you do the math.
Thanks again to everyone, but especially to Matthew for having this site.

My trunk on my 850T sedan stays open, but when I close it, wham it comes down quick. Did the new struts fix that? It's a heavy trunk lid.

Oh Yes. And be careful... my trunk started just coming down hard, then out of nowhere would not stay up. Trust me it hurts when it hits the head. I got replacements for $32.00 and installed them in about 30 minutes.
