ive got a problem with my s40 the problem is that the fan stays on even if i put the knobs on 0 fan speed and the fan doesnt turn off when the car is on but does when the car turns off.
i went to the dealership and asked them to sort it and the gave me the following list of parts to get:
level sensor
particulate filter
control----------------bought this but problem still persists
transistor
parts totalling a cost of
heating/air con doesnt turn off when car on 2000 S40

Apparently this is more common than I thought.
I have a 2003 v40 that had the same issue a few months back. The dealer replaced the transistor for about $200 (US). No other parts were replaced and everything worked fine since.
It was under extended warranty, but the warranty company refused to cover the repair under some obscure exclusion. They would have covered the control switch, but not this thing. This probably does not apply to you, since it does not sound like you are in GB.
