Good day,
My problem is this:
Recently while getting gas the fuel pump started automatically shutting off. However, the tank was no where close to being full.
I figured the pressure some how got too high and drove the car until it was empty. Next time and every time since then, i can only put in a 1/3 of a gallon before it clicks off. I have filled the tank completely by standing there and putting in 1/3 of a gallon and then another 1/3 etc. etc. That did not fix the problem
The car rides fine. I have no idea what is causing the gas pumps to cut off. Now, the computer says "emission system serivce required". However that message comes and goes.
Any help as to what is faulty would be fantastic. Thanks for reading.
This is a 2000 S80 with about 80,000 miles on it. Please help. Thanks!
I can not get fuel into an empty tank, pressure is way too h

This is the symptom of the vacuum system in the fuel line being dysfunctional. My suggestion is to take it to the dealer and complain about it and tell them that other people on the internet with the same problem had some type of hose in the upper gas line replaced to remedy the situation. I'm trying to think of the proper name but can't....seems "vacuum line in the upper filler tube?"
