Help, Advice and DIY Tutorials on Volvo's P80 platform cars -- Volvo's 1990s "bread and butter" cars -- powered by the ubiquitous and durable Volvo inline 5-cylinder engine.
After only having my C70 cab for just a little over 2months now and being v happy with it. Last week it started to lose water and get very hot. Quick phone call to the dealer i bought it from (Who are an independant volvo specialist) and it was taken in and diagnosed as the head gasket!
Oh joy, however they informed me that it would be covered under their 3month purchase warranty at no cost to me. Excellent.
Has anybody else had head gasket issues with their c70 2.4gt cab, 95K mileage?
Nice you got it back with it finally running right.
When the head gasket goes (usually from over-heating- bad thermostat, incorrect coolant or bad radiator that mixes the coolant into the oil, etc.) just replacing the gasket is not the answer. The head has to be made true again. Seems that you would have a case against the garage if you wanted to pursue this in a small claims court (at least in the U.S. you would).
your first shop put it to you. They were supposed to deck or skim the head when they did the head gasket. Of course this means they were supposed to check the head for level, which they probably didnt do.
