Collaboration/Workshops/Poll!

Post by tailor »

Good Morning to all on the forum.

Would there be any interest in members getting together as a form of collaboration to fix various items?
I know we cannot have workshops like they do at home depot, although
that would be fantastic.

My thought process:

If specific work is to be performed, timming belt, pcv or dropping tranny and a few other jobs that scare me 1/2 to death, I would be grateful for any physical help that I could get. We all have different levels of skill and experience and for those us (myself included) with less experience it would be a huge learning curve. If a member would like some assistance, are there any members who would be willing to help/advise tackle the job/s at hand.
Obviously for this to be of any kind of benefit location is all important and arranging the finer details would be responsibility of those members.

Could we attach a "willing to help in my area box" in the profile page, does any of this make sense or even appear to be practical?

Great idea!

I second it.

A first good place to begin is for all members to fill out their location in their profile.

I for one am in, and available in my area to help someone with a repair, replacement, or whatever, but let me say that more than the "have done that repair (although I have done many), I would probably fall into the category of "know how to do it" for most items....still can assist and I have VADIS on my laptop so I can travel with that for extra help. Therefore, maybe we can have a skill level chart for members to fill out too as well as "have tools," etc. categories.

This might take some thinking through so if anyone can give their input on what qualities need to be displayed, that would be great.

I also think this a good idea. Could save folks some money.
In fact, I need to do a trans flush and could really use some help on it. Would be willing to help do other maintenance in return.

Nothing quite like a FBR and a FBH to get the job done.

I have some time off between Xmas and New Year and was hoping to tackle the timming belt and the replacement of the left and right axels.
I cannot promise a heated garage but lots of hot drinks and medium sized fbr.

So anybody in and around Toronto willing to give me hand!!
