starting/transmission problem

Post by mjsparky363 »

Good morning. I have a 2003 s40/1.9 65,000mi USA that has 2 problems. 1st is a starting problem in that the car looses fuel pressure over night. I changed the fuel filter about 2 months ago and it was fine until the kid went off to school and thecar sits unused for the week.( I use my truck during the week and the car on the wkend) It will start then stall the start right up and run fine, no fuel leaks, no smell of raw fuel. Any ideas ? The 2nd problem is a bit more complex. I have asked on other forums, had the car back to the dealer and no luck. After the car has sat for a few hours and the engine is cold when you reverse the car then put it in drive there is a 2-3 sec delay and the car slams into drive. If I put the selector in D 1st, then R and back up it shifts fine into foward, no delay no slam. It only does it the 1st time the car is fired up in the morning or after it has sat all day. Fluid has been changed(mobile3309) and is at proper level cold, and only a tiny bit low hot(.1L?) Again anyone have any ideas? Is there a TCM update ? Thank you in advance for any light that might be shed on these problems.

The dealer should have let you know if there was a SW update available, but that doesn't mean there isn't one. You need to find out, because trying to fix a car with a SW problem, and not addressing it is a no win situation!

As far as the fuel pressure, the pressure regulators fail on these, and that could be your situation.

Good Luck,
B
