I was checking oil today and noticed that there appears to be some oil along the outside of the tube.
Does this mean I need a new stick or is there some other problem I should be concerned with.

There should be a small O-ring around the base of the plastic part of the dipstick.
This provides a seal.
Perhaps this is missing or worn?
Advance Auto sells a small assortment of which one should fit, or go to the dealer.
If you have exessive pressure or smoke from the dipstick then you may need the PCV system checked / replaced.
