Reliability of 2001 V70 T5 with 2.3L high pressure turbo?

Post by wwilme »

Have searched the forums, but can't find any concrete info on the T5. We are looking at a 2001 V70 T5 today which seems like a good deal. Has 120k and asking price is $7,000. Original owner, dealer serviced and repaired (will see records when I check it out), adult driven, very clean. We have already have an '01 V70XC so we know all the usual Volvo annoyances (squeaky and vibrating door panels, rattling sunroof, possible TCM and transmission shift issues, etc). Can't find any real info on the 2.3L high pressure turbo engine. Is this any less reliable than the 2.4L low pressure turbo in our XC? Is the gas mileage worse? Any other things I should be looking out for with the T5. Any help is appreciated!!
'06 XC90 2.5 158k miles
'01 V70 T5 (gone at 268k miles)
'01 XC70 (gone at 90k miles)
'93 850 GLT (gone at 194k miles)
And many a 240, 140 and even a 122 before those

Same answer here as on SS, all have the same problems/issues except no AWD issues
