1995 Volvo 850 turbo wagon

Post by jks1259 »

recently had "check engine" codes read for 850 turbo wagon. 182k miles. Cylinders misfiring, O2 sensor problems. List of things indicated that a tune up needed. Have had the car for 5 years. No tuneup.
Low gas mileage.
I was told that work would be around $ 600.00 with parts.

does this sound about right?

THanks

I had similar issues on my 94 non turbo and got a tune up quote for $650. Did a little homework and found the plugs, rotor, cap, and wires for $121 shipped on ebay from FCPgrotton. If you have the most basic handyman skills and with the help of this site you can do it all yourself.

As for the O2 sensor and other problems, the tune up may solve it but it may be more than that. I certainly wouldn't pay $600 though if it MIGHT fix the problem. I would however do the $121 worth of work myself, as in five years your car needs it anyway. When I was fresh off the tune up I was getting 31 MPG highway with cruise at 80 and the AC on high, which was up from about 23-24 pre tune...
