2001 S80 T6 loss of power. ETM update 155 done in 2006

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

It sounds like a short to me...maybe one of the main grounding straps off of the negative battery.

What am I checking for, tightness? corrision? I see a bunch of red wires coming fromt the positive and a vent tube from the battery...

BTW, this is a serious problem for me. I almost got rear ended today because of this. I hit the hazzard lights real quick and waved the guy behind me to pass. When the car dies like this, the steering wheel locks up.
I also think you have a short someplace, expect from a 'Main' lead such as 'Made in Japan' mentioned....Corrision posible., battery cable connections clean and tight at all ends would be my first suspect...
Let us know what you find..Good luck

Sounds like it might be time to "make it" throw a code. I've read on how to do this somewhere...specifically an ETM code (which would then be stored) which their silly "game-boy" will detect later. If you want to go this route, post back and I'll try to search it out of the other Volvo sites. I know this doesn't sound real honest and all, but sometimes you have to resort to measures when the dealers are playing their "pass-the-buck," and not taking responsibility game.
