95 m reg 460 2.0 ltr i. not starting

:oops: Hi there my 460 2ltri wont start. The dash lights up and i get a rapid click from behind the dash somtimes. the lights go on but the starter dosnt turn the fuel pump pushes fuel through.
The starter and solonoid are ne and work the battery is new and the ignition harness is new but still my volvo remains quiet i have checked the earths and nothing i can see is wrong.
Im getting annoyed now cos i cant get the fault can anyone tell me what im missing is there any switches or fueses behind the dash or ignition barrel?

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

On the wiring diagram I can't see any relay that would affect the starting.

One common problem on other Volvo models is a bad electrical portion of the ignition switch. Have you tried removing the plug from the ignition switch and 'jumping' the wires?

hi there i have tried to jump the wires on the ignition and have no joy there ithere i place a new battry in and now the dash lights up with out the key and a rapid ticking noise is heard and thats with out the keys in the igniton
any idea
