air conditioner, 2000 volvo s70

I have a 2000 Volvo s70 and it has 249000 miles, 5 cylinder and a 5 speed transmission. when you run the car for a short period of time the air conditioner starts blowing hot air. i just bought the car 3 days ago and the other owner stated that he just recharged the a.c. and that it was working great. i need some help with this problem and how do i fix the darn thing.

It sounds a lot like an A/C clutch shim problem. There is the right way to deal with it:
