850 turbo wagon 1996 fuel door -does not lock

does anyone know why this may be the case using the key in driver's door every other lock locks except the fuel door..

Just curious if anyone knows how to remedy this?

My guess...this is broken:

Pretty common failure on these cars. Usually, however, they jam in the "locked" position and you have to pull the manual release to get it to open. If your's is failing to lock then try spraying some penetrating oil or silicone spray into the plunger area to see if you can get it to free up and work.

I did find the fuel door "hidden latch" but jiggling it did not release it. Thanks:>
