Post by Kel »

Hello all, My check engine light comes on for about a minute or so after startup then goes out. I didnt get any codes from the OBD. Any ideas?
Thanks, Kelly

Sorry to sound like captain obvious here...but are you sure the light you are seeing isn't the orange "service" lamp instead of the red "check engine" lamp? It stays on for two minutes then goes off, reminding you to bring a wheelbarrow full of cash to your local volvo dealer so they can do minimal normal maintenance work.

Any CEL event ought to log codes.

If it was the service light don't feel bad. You have no idea how many panic phone calls I get because of that stupid light...

My '94 850T Maintenance light is lit for 90 seconds when an oil change is due.
Almost every five or six weeks at this time of year.

I reset the light with the 4-1-5-1 button procedure.
That may only work on the 94/95 series, though.
