I found a 1991 Volvo 940 Turbo in seemingly amazing condition with only 88,899 miles for about $1000 (sedan, white, black leather interior, power everything, etc. )Everything seems to be in generally good condition and I carfaxed it. It seems to have had regular inspections, etc. I called the dealer (haven't gone yet, going tomorrow) and he said the car is in good condition and the only thing wrong with it is that something is wrong with the turbo. He said it's loud, and probably needs to be replaced. The dealer told me he can't offer any kind of warranty or guarantee considering its a 1000$ car so the turbo isn't the only problem guaranteed but seems to be. I called a mechanic near my house and he said that a high quality rebuilt volvo turbo would cost me about 900$ with a few more hundred for labor.
What do you guys think about this? I'm wondering how the price is, the price of the repair, and what the chances are that there could be other serious problems with it from your experience? The VIN is YV1JA8748M1023402 by the way. Thank you for your help!
