s80 rough idle

I recently bought a 99 S80 and over the past 2 months, the idle revs between 600 - 800rpms, sometimes less regarless if it's hot or cold. Otherwise the car is running great. I have taken it in to a Volvo shop and they say one of the computers is bad and needs to be replaced for $995. I hope there is an alternative.

Suggestions?

yea-it sounds crazy but true. that's what has worked in the past for my t6--however it doesn't last. my car has always had a rough idle--especially coming off the freeways.

I'd clean the throttle body and check all the regular stuff -- spark plugs and thier gaps, air filter, run some fuel treatment.

Just had the same idle problem. Dealership replaced my throttly body and cost me ~$1,050. They actually still have the car and now looking for a coolent leak.

I had same problem on my 2000 S80 2.9. First the dealer reloaded the program on the comupter chip, this seemed to have fix the roguh iddle problem for a while. Second I just added one of the fuel system cleaners to a full fuel tank and this has fixed my rough iddle for the past six month.

Try that before spending the big money
