2005 XC70 Alarm goes off after I lock the doors

Post by 92integravtecgsr »

Not new to the site, just a new username (been a while since I've been on here and forgot the older name).

Anyways, my mom bought a 2005 XC70 and she says that everytime she locks the doors using the remote, the alarm goes off.

She removed fuse #8 (alarm fuse) and now it doesn't go off.

She also said that the "Service Alarm System" code is displayed on the dash.

Any ideas what the fix would be? Also, would a regular code scanner be able to tell what is wrong or is there a different scanner to read that code like there is for ABS?

Thanks.

I had the same on my 2001 V70. It was the alarm module in the front offside wheel arch. Cost about £100 all in at dealer.

Cheers

My car has that "Alarm System Service Required" message on the dash, too. I did some reading around, and saw that it's generally that module which goes bad. (Actually, from what I saw, it seems that just the battery in the module is what goes.)

That said, does anyone happen to know how to test the system to make sure that the aforementioned module is in fact the problem?
