How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! V70 Vented frontdisks

Post by johnsgotwood »

Hi all this is my first post but it probably won't be my last!!

I had new front disks fitted a few months ago and now suffer incredible vibration when braking. I've been told that this is probably caused by the disks not being fitted squarely on the hub, so they don't revolve parallel to the front wheels. Am I making sense?

As these disk have probably now worn to this angle I feel I've no other option than to replace them and the pads.
I've found some vented disk on ebay for about £75.00 for the pair, which is around the price I paid for the disks I have now.

My question is, has anyone on here seen or tried these disks?

Welcome to MVS.
Without a link to the pictures and description of the discs, it would be hard to tell. However, almost all of the front discs are vented on your car- or should be. That said, it's usually not the discs that cause problems but the caliper and pads. Post a link to the ebay auction and we'll know more.

Those are almost identical to what I put on my car...although mine are also zinc plated so the parts that the pad doesn't make contact with don't rust....2 years later they look brand new. My opinion on rotors (discs) like this is that the slotted and drilled is probably over-kill. Because there is actually less surface area for the pads to grab, there really is no better stopping over regular non drilled & slotted rotors. However, they are great at resisting over-heating. If I had it to do over, I think I might have gotten just slotted ones. Do understand that these discs will chew through your pads quicker than stock ones. Also, make sure you have the right size. There is are 2 sizes for your discs...one possibility is what's shown (302mm), but there's also a slightly smaller one (288mm I believe). We've found that there is no good way to know what is on our cars without taking the wheels off and actually measuring them across.
