Draper Reset Tool. Where do you get it?

Post by johnsgotwood »

Thanks for the advice, I shall give this a bit of thought before I rush in. The wear and tear of the pads concerns me as I'm not one to check the condition regularly, which is why I had new discs in the first place. (referencing crossed drilled rotors in this thread: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... 886#p77886)

On a completely different subject I see on another topic you mention a Draper Tool for resetting the service light. I've tried the link to ebay but the product has gone. Have you seen it anywhere else and do you know what sort of price bracket its in? Mine irritates me as well, the trouble is the longer you leave it for, the longer it stays on.

I know this is on the wrong forum but I have seem to have your attention at the moment.

Thanks John

From you other posts, I know you have an '98 V70, so the Draper will work. Actually, it should work for the later model 850's as well ('96 and '97 that don't have the diagnostic/reset boxes under the hood). From '99 on, the service reminder indicator (SRI) light can be reset without the tool- so we are the few that need something to reset the light unless we just pull that annoying bulb out of the dash (which isn't a bad idea).

It is almost funny that you're over in England and that's where this tool comes from. My purchase was from eBay U.K... That said, I've seen in sold on-line here (if you can't find it on eBay): http://www.atsite.co.uk/p-9410-draper-e ... -tool.aspx I've seen it elsewhere too and so you might just want to do a Google search but the price above is pretty decent and close to what I paid before shipping. Just clicked through a few more searches and found this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... 65F6303962

Thanks for your help, I will probably get one in the near future unless I can persuade a dealer to do it for me. Sorry for posting in the wrong forum. John

No problem, John.
There may be a couple of other options too but this one is really the simplest and most convenient. Mine resides in the glove box. It will also reset the SRS (airbag) code if you inadvertently set it when working in and around the dash or seats! this code is one of those that typically involves a trip to the dealer.

I just checked eBay and got 13 hits. Decent price, too! Here's one:

I ordered one from this link for $5.53 USD When I first went there I thought that was the shipping cost but that's the price with NO shipping charge. It's coming from Hong Kong so it'll take a while but at that price I can wait.

I've ordered a few other things from ebay that came from China that were the lowest cost and no shipping. I don't know how they can do it but I'm not asking any questions.

Cheers,
Gary

Gary,

Let us know how this works out - that price is unbelievable but I am suspicious about giving a credit card number to them.

Well that appears to be the case here. I never received it so I filed a dispute with PayPal (no credit card info exchanged with seller) and after several failed attempts to contact the seller they have reimbursed my $5.53.

I will have the moderator remove the link so no one else gets tempted.

Cheers,
Gary
