Re: 440 -95 B18U Problems with cold start + bad idle
Ok, I've been checking for vacuum leaks before and I've replaced all connections I could find without result. The only pipe connected to the brake servo is a 2cm tube made of plastic bent like a bow.
I found this on another forum:
"There are two black plastic pipes which come over the brake resevoir and join the back of the inlet assembly using short braid covered pipes. I have these were perished and I have replaced them. Things look OK, but it is early days yet. Note that one of these pipes has a small brass restrictor in it, so don't throw away!!."
I don't know which pipes this guy means, is there any documentation/pictures on the vacuum lines for the B18U engine?

I can't find a vacuum diagram for your car so, at this time, I can't help with this one.

Re: 440 -95 B18U Problems with cold start + bad idle
I haven't found any vacuum leaqks, even tried with carburator cleaner without any luck
. But,from inside the car I can hear a sucking sound first second when I push down the throttle. Can a bad inlet manifold gasket appear as a vacuum leak? Since I've noticed the engine stabilizes If I repeatadly push down the breakpedal?

I haven't been ignoring this, I have been doing some research.
A bad inlet manifold gasket, unless there was a large piece missing, shouldn't make a noise that you could hear in the car. However, there is a vacuum pipe from the intake manifold to the brake servo (booster) unit. As the engine stabilizes when you repeatedly press the brake pedal it is possible that you have a leak in that pipe or at one of its ends. Have you checked this one?

Re: 440 -95 B18U Problems with cold start + bad idle
I was afraid you guys were leaving me alone with this problem=) I really appreciate your help.
I have tried to check this pipe actually, spraying some carburattor cleaner and I didn't notice anything. I'm thinking of replacing It but I can't see how I can detach It from the booster unit?
Bu If I understand It right the vacuum is created in the intake manifold and If the manifold gasket is bad I would have a vacuum leak, right? or am way of?

As if we would.I was afraid you guys were leaving me alone with this problem

The vacuum pipe is attached to a non-return valve at the servo unit. The non-return valve just pulls out.
You are right about the vacuum being created in the intake manifold but I don't know if it would make a loud enough noise to be heard inside the car.
Have you sprayed the carb cleaner on the intake manifold gasket to check for a leak there?

Re: 440 -95 B18U Problems with cold start + bad idle
I removed this brake vacuum pipe from it's connection on the manifold and put my finger over the connection. No improvement was observed
meaning the pipe is OK.
I guess I have no choice now exept for replacing my inlet manifold/exhaust gasket. As I read on other forums I'ts a pretty common failure on the B18U engines. I've decided to do the job myself and I will start as soon as I get the new gasket. Is there anything else I can replace at the same time?

It is a common failure point. I can't think of anything else to replace but would advise you to give the bolts a good soaking with releasing oil as they will be rusted and extremely tight. If any snap you will need to remove the head and have them taken out at a machine shop.
WD40 is good but if you can get your hands on some PlusGas formula A it is the best.

Re: 440 -95 B18U Problems with cold start + bad idle
As I wrote in the other post I replaced the inlet manifold gasket and the engine still runs like a bag of nuts
Any last suggestions?
