Due to the circumstances, I'm forced to sell my 240. It is listed on ebay, and the following is the description. Please let me know if anybody is interested in it. I'm asking for $500. I'd rather see her go to someone who can put to a good use.
This car is NOT currently drivable due to the drive shaft bearing problem. The odometer reads 180,000 miles, but it has just about 350K miles on it (no kidding). It's because I replaced the entire instrument cluster when the speedometer crapped the bed. This car is definitely repairable. Before the drive shaft bearing problem, the engine and transmission were still going strong, and it's only been taken off the road since Feb. 9, 2009. The engine revved cleanly through all rev range. There are some rusts on the usual places, mostly around the tail gate, but some around the sills, and there's one rusty gush on the floor towards the left side rear seat. The driver's seat is pretty much shot, dashboard has a few cracks, and rear driver's side window does not roll down. Rest of the interior is actually in a decent condition for the age. The body is mostly straight, scratches and dents here and there. Needs shocks, all the bushings are poor, and front end needs adjustment, tailgate needs to be replaced (rusts got the better of it), etc.
So even though it's got a clean title, if you are looking for a daily driver, maybe it's not a very good one.
But if you are serious fan of Volvo 240s, and looking for some good and awesome parts, this one may be just for you!
She has following parts installed:
- Nardi Steering wheel with Momo steering wheel adapter (rare!) w/ Nardi spacer
- IPD anti sway bar, both front and back
- IPD chassis brace (strut tower bar) (old style, aluminum alloy)
- IPD GT style strut braces
- IPD sports exhaust with custom made tail pipe (3in) (the muffler and catalytic converter were both good last time I had it checked)
- IPD overload springs on the back
- IPD hi-performance cam and adjustable cam sprocket
- IPD spark plug wires
- IPD rear cam seal retainer
- K&N air filter
- New front brake discs/pads with 2-year old calipers, with stainless steel brake lines
- 2-year old rear cross drilled discs/pads with 2-year old calipers, with stainless steel brake lines
- Turbo GT rims with pretty good tires (rear tires are a year old)
- Custom fit Tachometer
- Aluminum alloy pedal kit
- Custom Shifter w/ overdrive switch
- Sony CD player with two new speakers up front, sub amp (rear speakers are kind of junk)
- A year old O2 sensor
- New condenser for A/C (A/C does not work, was in the process of fixing it for the coming summer)
- Heater blower motor is a year-old
- Heavy duty tow hitch
- New cooling fan blades and fan clutch
- 2-year old Crankshaft pulley vibration damper
- New engine mounts
- New fuel line
I'm probably forgetting something or the other. I also have the complete wiring harness that does not bio-degrade, timing belt tools, and of course Bentley Bible and such, all comes with the car, as well as original owner's manual. Oh, it has a spare tire that's original to this 240, and it's in a great condition!
I really hate to let her go, but I just don't have money/time right now, and I hate to see her just sitting in the lot. I now drive 850 T5, and I honestly think the 240 is just a better car. I hope another 240 lover will come put her to good use, so please do not bid if you are just going to scrap her. Please feel free to ask any questions, I will answer at the best of my ability.
