V50 2005 Brake Control Unit

My car is one month out of warranty and the Brake Control Unit shows faults and needs replacing. The dealer is quoting £1500 for the job. Volvo UK won't help as I had one service done independently and i am not a previous Volvo owner

Expensive repairs seem to know when the warranty expires and wait for that time. Unfortunately, as far as the warranty goes the dealer is correct in not co-operating. However, Volvo UK are wrong in not helping you because you had an independent service done. As the consumer laws in the UK now stand you can have your service done at any garage without negating the warranty as long as the service is as specified by the manufacturer. They should not take into account previous Volvo ownership which is totally irrelevant to the current problem. In fact, I would have thought they would want to retain your custom and go part way with the cost.

I would be trying Volvo UK again with that info if the service was as specified and you have the documentation to prove it.
