1992 240 Wagon Rear Wiper and Washer
Neither the rear window wiper or washer are working on my '92 240 wagon. I would appreciate advice on steps to take to troubleshoot this. The fuses seem okay. Although this is my first time to check the fuses (just bought this 240 wagon). They look much different from the fuses on my previous 740 wagon. I assume if the fuses are bad that the metal strip spanning the fuse cylinder would be broken. Thanks.

It is possible that the wires have been damaged where they come away from the roof into the tailgate. This is fairly common.

The last post is spot on! Open the tailgate & look into each hinge. You'll see split wires if this is the case. Two remedies:
1) Buy new wiring looms, not expensive.
2) Cheat! loosen the hinge bolts a couple of turns. Snip any still good wires & pull through into roof void (having carefully released the roof lining).
3) Rejoin the wires direct from source to boot lid making an unsighty, but effective loop, like this:
Can be tidyed uo with with a split piece of conduit.
Good luck
