Door "hinge" repair

Post by craigsan42 »

The driver's side front door is not functioning smoothly on my '92 240 wagon. I'm not sure what the piece is called, or if it can be ordered. It is the "rocker hinge?" that rubs against a small bar to keep the door ajar. It is held in place by bolts and has two rotating pins that rotate around that small bar. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

This sounds like the door check strap, also known as the door stop. It is to stop the door banging into the bodywork.

I can't find a listing on VADIS for the 240 nor can I see one on FCPGroton's nor IPD's sites.

You may have to buy a used one from a scrapyard.

I just came across this post, has anyone tried to replace this door stop? It's held onto the door with 2 12mm bolts - easy. How do you separate it from the chassis though? I cannot figure this out.
