850 Tailgate

The tailgate on my 1995 850 will not stay open and keeps slipping down. Can't see any gas struts to recharge/replace so is there an easy fix?

There is a gas strut at each side of the tailgate hidden behind the plastic trim above the rear side windows.

There is a good write up on this forum on replacing them.

http://www.sgs-engineering.com/gas-stru ... struts.php will supply new struts at a fraction of the dealer price or they will test your struts and re-gas them for even less. I have used them for both services and they are first class.

I am moving this to the 850 forum.
