Okay fellas...here's my scenario...
1995 850 GLT N/A 155K
Just went through a mess with the plastic end tank on the rad splitting...tried JB welding it, (times have been tough lately...) it would work for a few days but basically just spilt further down the tank below the patch. The rez was also cracked in several spot. All in all it became a ver low pressure system with all the leaks. So...replaced the rad. The guy forgot to replace the tank. No problem. Replaced that today. Filled it. Car started REALLY hard. It was running fine last night. Parked it. Replaced the rez, started it up and it spun a LONG time and caught very slowly. Thought nothing of it. Ran smooth after about 10 seconds. Drove off to do my bidness and suddenly temp jumped up. Shut her down instantly, added water. This happened several times but never got into the red and always shut her right down. I think there was just a lot of air and I think it's gone...but the car is doing the hard start thing even worse. No smoek whatsoever, no milkshake in the oil. and she smooths out just fine once she starts. But dang it starts like a car with a blown HG. No check engine lights.

So, are you loosing any coolant when it overheats like this? Sometimes when you change out the radiator the thermostat which was used to the old fluid can go bonkers as does the temp sensor... so, if you're okay with the fluid levels and air is out of the system, but still temps aren't right at 3:00 on your dash, I would change out the thermostat and the ETS (engine temp. sensor) which resides at the low point of the thermostat housing- I've heard of strange start and idle issues if the temp. sensor (ETS) is unplugged or is shot. Good luck and let us know what you do and what solves this.

T-Stat was actually changed out this past winter. It came out in pieces. I'm going to go through it over the weekend and figure it out. Thanks for your input

Apparently the two are unrelated. I pulled the plugs today out of curiosity and to my chagrin..Bosch plats...gapped at about .42 and several were barely hand tight. So I cleaned them and re gapped them and it made a big difference. I am heading out right now to get the right plugs. I read the pressure at the rail with a cheap tire gauge...15 lbs with the key in pos II. (Key on, all dash lights on, ignition off) I'm going to check it with a better gauge and if the pressure is still low...what does that mean. Thing cranks and cranks but once she finally starts she runs just fine. Any thoughts?

Just got done with new motorcraft copper cores, gapped at .028 new cap and new rotor. Cap and platinum bosches only had about 25K on them...plugs looked like they had 100K cap was carbon tracked enough to go ahead and do it, rotor was on the car at 132K when I got it. Wires were new about 6K ago...MAN! NEVER EVER use those platipus plugs again! what a difference. car starts right up. So the issue was not fuel or HG. However, I have GOT to do the PCV. It's a mess.
Tomorrow I deal with the coolant issues

OKay...after posting the last premature post...I still have a starting issue. It starts now, I think because of the plsug change, but she still acts like a no cpmression vehicle on startup. I know thats not the case because cylinders all checked out. So I have a low pressure fuel delivery issue. Thats not the fuel pump obviously. What would make it have low pressure at start up. but run like a March hare once you get the fire lit?

Clogged or partially clogged fuel filter? These should be replaced preventatively anyway.
