Accesory belt tensioner....rattle/ticking? 98 xc

I have searched and cannot find information on the accesory belt tesnioner. My 98 xc has a ticking or rattle sound when there is a change in revs. I can feel it when I place my hand over it, and when I push against it. Are these units servicable, or do I replace it?

How many miles do you have? I replaced mine at 140K miles on my S70 w/ the timing belt as preventative maintenance.

209 000 kms. I think I will take it off and at least look a the bearings. My timing belt was done 160 000 kms.
