Odometer quit working '94 850 turbo- speedo still working

Post by lesaroka »

If my odometer and trip odometer are not working but speedo is working what do I need to do.
How would I know if mine has Yazaki or VDO head?
Thank you. Thank you very much

The teeth in the odometer gears wear out with age and needs replacement... it's a big job to access the intrument panel and pull the speedo out and replace the gears, and as simple as these gearsets are they don't come cheap.. :-(

I have the same situation with mine(94 850 194260+ miles), dealer wanted $350 to replace it.

I've been keeping track of my gas fills, 12 is roughly 3000 miles and time for an oil change, 18 I bring to my mechanic for service. Being that I have no intention of selling my car any time soon and will more than likely pass it on to my son, I really don't need an odometer.

I had the same problem with my 1994 850 Station Wagon. I found the gear on the internet at a speedometer shop in Richmond, VA. I purchased the gear and installed it for approximately $42.00 (US). The hardest part of the job was removing the top portion of the dashboard in order to uncover the removable instrument cluster. Haynes manual gives very clear instructions on that job ( Dash cover removal/replacement ).

I have the same problem in my 94 850 wagon. I found the gears @ odometergears.com. Both gears for $50, not bad. Now I just need the time to do it!
