After replacing the tie rods and then doing an alignment, my new repairman told me that both front wheel bearings on my Volvo S40 2001 ( 80,000 miles) needed to be changed. I did notice some kind of deafening noise coming from the front right that has gotten worse since I changed my winter for the summer tires.
He quoted the parts at around 90$ each and said he need at least 4 hours to do the job for a total of about 500$
A quick search on Internet indicated I could get the parts for 40$. Is it that complicated to change or could I do it myself?
I tend not to trust this repairman too much since he told me I needed an engine cleaning and the nice people on this forum told me I could fix the problem easily without that expense.
