00 S40 Turbo Blows ignition Fuse

Post by Buckyd »

Have 00 S40 Turbo that blows the ignition fuse under hood if you try and start. Thought it was the disable system but I don't think so after looking around on web site. Any idea what would cause it to do this? Had put plugs in and started with plug cover off and started fine. Put plug cover on and changed lower rear motor mount. Lowered off lift and key turn got me a few clicks under dash but no starter turn - now blows fuse instantly if you try and start. Put a piece of wire in for fuse (I know it is wrong so wait before you yell) the car would start but wire will turn red hot instantly so can only do for seconds. How can a dead short show up so quickly??? Spark plug cover and motor mount change cause a short??? Any ideas out there???? Does disabler malfunction cause ignition fuse blowout / deliberate short ???? These cars have known issues like this??? HELP!!!!

Get that wire out of the fuse location before you melt your wiring down. You must have created a dead short somewhere. Look around the areas you were working in - especially near the engine mount. Maybe you pinched a wire under something.

Also, look at the electrical connections on the starter. Maybe you dropped a tool or old spark plug down there.
